Latest WBCS Syllabus 2023 Pdf: Selection Process
WBPSC WBCS Prelims Exam –Prelims will have only one paper- General Studies. There is no Aptitude Test, unlike various other State Service Exams.
WBCS Mains Exam – Mains Exam has 8 papers out of which 4 are of MCQ-type. (Optional Subjects are meant to be taken by candidates opting for Group A and Group B services.)
Mains Exam (Conventional/Essay) is allowed to be taken only in Bengali/English language.
WBPSC WBCS Interview – Candidates who qualify in the main exam will be called for interview round. The maximum marks for interview is fixed as 200 Marks. Marks of Main examination and interview will be considered for ranking.

WBCS Syllabus Pdf: WBCS Preliminary Exam Pattern
1 – 1 paper- having a total of 200 marks combined.
2 – Preliminary exam paper will be General Studies.
3 – First paper of the will be a general paper (200 marks).
4 – The exam will be OMR type objective examination.
5 – Qualification for the exam will be degree level.
6 – This is just a qualifying paper and these marks are not counted for final selection.
7 – Aspirants qualifying prelims will be able to write mains exam.

WBPSC WBCS Syllabus: WBCS Mains Exam Pattern
1 – 8 papers having a total of 1600 marks combined.
2 – Each paper will be having 200 marks.
3 – First paper of the mains exam will be Bengali/ Hindi/ Urdu/ Nepali/ Santali paper (200 marks).
4 – Second paper of the mains exam will be English language paper (200 marks).
5 – Third & Fourth paper of the mains exam will be General Studies paper (200 marks).
6 – Fifth paper of the mains exam will be Constitution of India and Indian Economy including role and functions of Reserve Bank of India paper (200 marks).
7 – Sixth paper of the mains exam will be of Arithmetic & Test of Reasoning paper (200 marks).
8 – Paper 7th & 8th will be of optional subjects.
9 – Aspirants qualifying mains will be able to attend the interview/personality test.
